MaineHealthis seeking aMedical Director and Division Chief of Nephrology to join their well-established, collegial group in Portland, Maine.The Division of Nephrologyprovidesa full array of clinical services that encompass acute and chronic kidney disease, renal replacement therapy, apheresis, critical care and interventional nephrology, kidney transplantation, renalsonographyandkidney biopsy.This integrated leadership role provides academic,clinicalandadministrative oversight for nephrology services across the health system and supportsMaineHealth'stripartite mission of clinical excellence,educationandresearch.

Thisleadershipposition offers:

Qualifications:

  • MDorDO from an accredited medical school
  • Fellowship-trained in Nephrology
  • Board Certified in Nephrology
  • Rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Minimum 7-10 years of clinical practice
  • Minimum 5 years in medical leadership

Academic LeadershipResponsibilities:

  • Collaboration with Graduate Medical Education and Undergraduate Medical Education leadership and Department Chairs to support all aspects ofmedical education within the discipline of nephrologyfor medical students,residentsandfellows
  • Oversight of nephrology teaching programs,including clinical teaching,simulation center education programs, didactic lectureseriesandmedical grand rounds
  • Participation in initiatives to supportan optimalclinical learning environment, aligned with ACGME standards
  • Promotion of faculty engagement inMaineHealth'sclinical, educationalandresearch missions, including recruitment, development,mentorshipandacademic advancement
  • Collaboration withMaineHealthresearch leadership to support and mentor clinical, translationalandhealth-services research relevant to nephrology

Clinical LeadershipResponsibilities:

  • Oversight and advancement of high-quality, patient-centerednephrologycare across ambulatory and inpatient settings
  • Leadership in the development and implementation of innovative care models, clinicalpathwaysandquality-improvement initiatives innephrology
  • Collaboration with Department of Medicine leadership, servicelinesandoperational partners to develop andmaintainclinical policies, practiceguidelinesandperformance-improvement initiatives
  • Acceptance of accountability forobjectivesaligned withMaineHealth'sStrategic Plan andserviceline goals

Administrative and Operational LeadershipResponsibilities:

  • Participation in ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) and focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE) processes
  • Leadership in faculty and advanced practice provider recruitment, onboarding, engagement,developmentandretention
  • Support for division members' participation in regional and national professional societies, leadership developmentprogramsandacademic promotion
  • Attendance and participation in meetings and workgroups necessary to fulfill academic,clinicalandadministrative responsibilities
  • Performance review and periodic reassessment of responsibilities in collaboration with the Chair, Department ofMedicineand relevant administrative leadership
  • Provide administrative oversight of the Dialysis Program, ESRDServices, Kidney TransplantServicesand Interventional Nephrology Services atMaineHealth
