Summary

This position will be responsible for overseeing daily machine shop operations, CNC programming, production scheduling, and personnel to ensure high quality, on time delivery while maintaining efficiency, safety, and compliance standards.



Job Duties and Responsibilities

Other tasks and duties may be required as directed.



  • Manage daytoday machine shop operations, ensuring effective utilization of personnel, equipment, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead, train, and supervise shop leads, CNC programmers, setup personnel, and operators; conduct hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
  • Coordinate with the planning team to establish and maintain realistic production schedules based on shop capacity, routing standards, and workload.
  • Oversee CNC programming activities using ESPRIT and/or Mastercam, including code development, testing, revision control, backups, and software management.
  • Review blueprints, solid models, and RFQs to develop efficient manufacturing processes and ensure manufacturability of new and recurring parts.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and programming issues to maintain production flow and minimize downtime.
  • Oversee tool presetting, tooling selection, and process optimization to maximize machine utilization and repeatability.
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards through adherence to established procedures, inprocess inspections, and final inspections.
  • Ensure that machine shop personnel consistently meet or exceed deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Enforce requirements, safety regulations, and lean manufacturing practices to promote quality, efficiency, and workplace safety.
  • Interface daily with the company ERP system to monitor production, track labor, manage work orders, and report performance.
  • Monitor department budgets, expenses, preventive maintenance, and equipment repairs to ensure costeffective operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support optimization of recurring jobs and production processes.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical challenges and meet customer requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training to maintain current CNC programming and manufacturing knowledge.



Qualification Requirements

  • Education/Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university;
    • Minimum 5 years of previous experience leading a machine shop with proven ability to manage a large team
    • Minimum 5 years of CNC program experience using ESPRIT/Mastercam
    • Minimum 5 years of experience programming Fanuc/Universal robots


  • Language Skills


    • Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
    • Strong command of both English and Spanish language, both written and spoken, preferred.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
    • Capable of addressing inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
    • Comfortable presenting information and responding to questions from managers, employees, and the public.


  • Math Skills

    • Proficient in applying mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
    • Able to use fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions for practical applications.


  • Reasoning Skills


    • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, analysis, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Must be capable to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, such as, mathematical, and/or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


  • Computer/ Office Skills

    • Microsoft Access
    • Good Understanding of ERP systems
    • Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Power Point, and Access
    • Advanced Blueprint Reading
    • Kaizen, PDSA, Continuous Improvement models
    • CQA/CQE certification (preferred)


  • Technical/Soft skills

    • Strong understanding of HAAS, OKUMA, DG MORI, Star machines
    • Proficiency in quality tools: Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 8D, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, and SPC
    • Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and supplier audits
    • Familiarity with GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes
    • Strong understanding of corrective and preventive action (CAPA) system
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset
    • Ability to travel to supplier sites as needed





Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands

    • Frequent activities: Sitting, typing, handling objects, talking/hearing, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 10lbs.

    • Occasional activities: Standing, walking, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 25lbs


    • Rare activities: Climbing/balancing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50+lbs


  • Vision Requirements


    • Frequent: Close vision and computer monitor use


    • Occasional: Color vision and ability to adjust focus
    • Rare: Distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception


  • Work Environment

    • Frequent exposure: Quiet noise

    • Occasional exposure: Mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, moderate-to-loud noise levels


    • Rare exposure: High places, outdoor weather, electrical shock, vibration, very quiet noise and very loud noise

Compensation and Benefits Offered

Actual base salary offered to the selected applicant will be based on their work location, qualifications, job related skills, relevant education, and training experience.

Base salary range Minimum $114,000 - Maximum $136,000
