Role Overview

Eastman Kodak is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to support the Supply Operations organization of Kodak's Digital Print Division onsite in Dayton, Ohio. The Mechanical Engineer's primary focus will be on the system qualification process and certification of ink performance in Kodak Prosper and ULTRASTREAM products. This role will also be tasked with development and continuous improvement activities for these products- as well as identifying, validating and implementing solutions to increase customer satisfaction by improving core system reliability and operational processes. Work will include failure analysis, laboratory testing of existing and prototype parts and software, as well as manufacturing process improvement. Close interaction with other engineering disciplines is required due to the complex printing system consisting of fluid mechanics, electronics, software and materials. The Mechanical Engineer will coordinate activities involving other engineers and technicians as necessary. The engineer will have direct contact and develop vital working relationships with current customers, field service engineers, R&D engineers and Manufacturing engineering and operations. The engineer will provide advanced support to Service Engineering for customer issues that are escalated.



Both domestic and international travel to customer sites is expected and will typically be between 5% and 10%.

Responsibilities:
* Measure and evaluate system-level performance to identify critical ink, part and subsystem interactions
* Identify, validate and implement solutions to achieve system targets for startup time and mean time between incidents
* Coordinate activities with technicians and other team members to complete tasks and interpret results
* Perform failure analysis and identify key areas for continuous improvement in order to increase customer satisfaction
* Interface with the multi-functional teams including production, sustaining engineering, field service and R&D to address on-going field performance problems
* Analyze customer data, visit customer sites to investigate performance gaps and develop and implement improvement plans

Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with 2 to 5 years of professional experience, or relevant
co-op/internship experience
* Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and solve complex problems
* Solid understanding of fundamental mechanical systems
* System characterization, integration, testing, and optimization skills
* Knowledge of the following technical areas or topics: transducers, instrumentation, data acquisition, reliability, statistics, testing, design of experiments and failure analysis skills
* Experience with computer software tools for the engineering environment, i.e. MS Excel/Word PC applications
* Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude
* Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment and across functional boundaries
* Quality conscious with an attention to detail and ability to follow through
* Strong oral and written communication skills including project planning, technical presentations and direct customer communication
* Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
* Desired knowledge: Continuous inkjet knowledge, software knowledge, failure analysis knowledge, reliability engineering
