Responsibilities
Job SummaryThe Manager - Workforce Health Operations leads the day-to-day operational and case management components of employee health across HonorHealth. This includes screenings, immunizations, exposure management, tness-for-duty and return-to-work evaluations, and workers' compensation coordination. The role operationalizes a continuum-of-care model (rapid next-business-day contact, triage, and appropriate care level, often via EH telehealth) to reduce delays and lost time while ensuring accurate OSHA reporting through EH's EMR. The Manager partners closely with the Senior Director and collaborates with HR, Infection Prevention, Caregiver Wellness, Regulatory/Accreditation & EH\&S (AVP), Security, and Emergency Preparedness to advance injury prevention, ergonomics, and joint initiatives in analytics and technology enablement.
Essential Functions
Continuum of Care & Case Management
- Lead next-business-day contact, validation, and triage for injured/exposed employees; direct to the lowest appropriate level of care, including EH clinic or telehealth.
- Establish case-routing matrix: EH-managed routine/low-risk cases; TPA-managed high-risk/complex claims; escalate per protocol.
- Coordinate restricted duty and RTW plans with HR and leaders; track outcomes to reduce severity and duration.
Employee Health Operations
- Oversee pre-employment and annual screenings, immunization programs, medical
- surveillance, exposure management, t-for-duty, and RTW evaluations.
- Ensure accurate OSHA 300/301 records via EH EMR workows; verify completeness and accuracy.
Workers' Compensation Coordination
- Partner with Risk Management and the TPA to accelerate appropriate care, authorization, and closure; standardize documentation and communication.
Injury Prevention & Ergonomics
- Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses; implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness.
- Partner with AVP Regulatory/Accreditation & EH\&S on policy alignment, training, and physical environment safety standards.
Analytics & Technology (Collaboration)
- Collaborate with AVP Regulatory/Accreditation & EH\&S (and JB's steering analytics) to produce quarterly dashboards and insights on injuries/exposures, DART/LTIR, days to RTW, and closure rates.
- Jointly enable EHS/EH technology platforms (incident tracking, training compliance, reporting) in partnership with IT and EH\&S; enhance EH EMR workows for OSHA automation.
Leadership & Resource Stewardship
- Lead and develop EH staff (nurses, coordinators, specialists); ensure competency, training, and performance management.
- Provide operational budget inputs for EH operations; enterprise EH\&S budgets remain with EH\&S leadership.
Governance & Collaboration Boundaries (Swim Lanes)
Own (EH Ops):
- EH clinical operations, case management triage, workers' comp coordination, ergonomics actions in EH scope, OSHA accuracy via EMR.
Collaborate (Not Own):
- Regulatory/Accreditation & EH\&S (AVP): ISO/accreditation, enterprise EH\&S compliance, hazardous materials, physical environment safety.
- Emergency Preparedness / Network Ops Center: enterprise emergency planning; EH Manager supports employee health emergency protocols (exposures, pandemics).
- Security: workplace violence prevention (ownership with Security).
- Risk/TPA: high-risk claims authorization/care.
- Infection Prevention & Caregiver Wellness: clinical alignment and wellness integration.
- Committees:
- Safety & Physical Environment, Employee Injury Prevention Steering, ISO 9001 management review (EH\&S contributor).
Education
- Bachelor's in nursing, Public Health, or Occupational Health- Required
- Master's - Preferred
Experience
- 5-7 years in employee/occupational health; 2-3 years leadership in healthcare; experience with workers' comp case management. - Preferred
- Strong knowledge of OSHA/CDC and Arizona regulatory requirements; ergonomics and injury prevention practices. - Preferred
- Familiarity with EH EMR and EHS platforms; analytics literacy (able to interpret and apply insights in collaboration with EH\&S analytics leadership) - Preferred
- Experience in collaborative governance and cross-functional leadership. Preferred
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and change management skills. - Preferred
License and Certifications
- RN (AZ) - Preferred
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)/ Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S) - Preferred
