The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is. The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Surgery, in the Division of Ophthalmology, are actively seeking talented MD (or MD/PhD) candidates for a 1-2 year post ophthalmology residency fellowship in ocular oncology under the leadership of Jesse L. Berry, MD and Liya Xu, PhD. This is an academic position of a USC Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology (Fellow). The fellowship is a full-time commitment. Upon completion of the program, fellows will become experts in the field of Ocular Oncology and will acquire further expertise in multi-disciplinary diagnostic and treatment approaches for patients with retinoblastoma, ocular melanoma, ocular squamous cell carcinoma, and other rare ocular malignancies, in addition to the coordination of their care with the rest of the health care team and medical system. A stipend is provided. The fellow divides their time between USC Roski Eye Institute, Los Angeles General Medical Center and Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Fellowship applicants must have completed an accredited residency in ophthalmology, and they must be Board certified or Board eligible in ophthalmology. Currently, we are only sponsoring visas for those applicants who can acquire an unrestricted California medical license, as this is a requirement to begin the fellowship. It is possible to apply for a California medical license online. Most Canadian applicants are eligible for a California medical license. Should you not be eligible for an unrestricted California medical license, we may consider an unpaid observership. Please email Natalie Fleming (email below) with your CV for further information. The annual base salary range for this position is $92,500-$96,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations To receive more information about the requirements necessary for obtaining a California medical license, please contact: The Medical Board of California 1426 Howe Avenue, Suite #54 Sacramento, CA 95825-3236 Phone: (916) 263-2499 www.medbd.ca.gov Additional requirements: Curriculum Vitae Medical Student Performance Evaluation (AKA-Dean's Letter) Medical School transcripts If interested, please apply using the link above.
