Job Title: Procurement Category Manager I
Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension upto 2 years
Location: Hybrid - Chicago or Schaumburg, IL (2-3 days onsite preferred)
Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM - 2:15 PM Client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Procurement Category Manager I to support global category management initiatives. This role is well suited for an early-career procurement professional who is comfortable working with data, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting sourcing and category strategy execution in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with Category Managers and cross-functional partners to support sourcing activities for semiconductor and electro-mechanical components, ensuring accurate data management, competitive pricing analysis, and reliable supplier engagement. This position emphasizes operational execution, analytical support, and strong attention to detail.
Day to Day:
Support execution of category strategies for semiconductor and electro-mechanical components
Conduct competitive pricing analysis to support sourcing and cost-reduction decisions
Assist with supplier selection, onboarding, and communications
Maintain and update vendor master data, pricing, and purchased-part attributes
Collect, organize, upload, and extract procurement data from ERP and related systems
Analyze part and supplier data to identify cost, delivery, and supply-risk insights
Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to align sourcing needs
Track and report basic procurement metrics related to cost, supplier performance, and delivery
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or category management (entry-level profiles considered)
General understanding of purchasing processes and supply-base management
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and data accuracy
Ability to perform basic data analysis and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency with Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and ERP navigation
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to semiconductor or electro-mechanical components
Experience supporting global or multi-site category strategies
Familiarity with cost analysis, total cost of ownership (TCO), or supplier performance tracking
Prior experience or coursework in a manufacturing or supply chain environment
