HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to perform data collection by conducting research recruiting and enrollment. The Clinical Research Assistant will recruit and screen subjects for research studies and collects baseline and follow up data from subjects. This is the first of four levels of clinical research assistants and works under the guidance and direction of senior staff.

This position will be in support of Defense & Veterans Consortium for Integrative Pain Management (DVCIPM) at the Uniformed Services University (USU) and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, MD.

  • Recruits and enrolls subjects for research studies. Collects baseline and follow up data from subjects. Checks for validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality assurance requirements and clinical relevance.
  • Performs data entry in accurate, timely, and efficient manner. Maintains clear and accurate data collection records and inventories in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
  • Establishes and maintains database files, creates, collects, disseminates, and maintains appropriate study data, and uploads into the established electronic data capture platform.
  • Performs sample processing, tracking, and prepares samples for shipment.
  • Maintains supplies in the laboratory and ensures proper cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
  • Performs scientific literature searches, identification, and retrieval.
  • Performs other administrative duties that will assist in the development and submission of papers, abstracts, and manuscripts, presenting studies or production of study protocol manuals and data collection instruments.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required, biological sciences preferred.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques; ability to follow detailed instructions; good communication and analytical skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; Ability to obtain and maintain a T3 secret clearance investigation.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a clinic, hospital, or office environment.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $19.33 - $24.03. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
