Are you interested in developing new tools and systems for the warfighter of tomorrow while analyzing and supplementing current capabilities? Are you interested in learning more about Systems engineering with a focus on Digital Engineering (DE) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in support of nationally important defense programs?

Are you enthusiastic about innovation and making new capabilities a reality?

Are you pursuing a degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, and want to apply systems engineering to multiple strategic weapons systems?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!


The Mission Engineering Group at JHU/APL is seeking interns to support critical work in Systems Engineering, which includes:

    • Concept and requirements development.

    • Mission engineering-to-test integration efforts.

    • Implemention of model-based and digital engineering best practices.

This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to projects that directly impact national defense while gaining valuable experience in your chosen field.


Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Strong interest in MBSE and Digitial Engineering implementation solutions to include relevant coursework.
  • Are you pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, and/or PHD degree majoring in Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Can demonstrate successful problem-solving in a technical area.
  • Have some familiarity and experience with programming languages and methodologies, including C++ on Linux, JavaScript, Java, MATLAB, Python, SysML, UAF, and OOSEM.
  • Can work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Completed previous internship/co-op or have other relevant work experience.
  • Can demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Note: When prompted to upload attachments, please include a copy of your college transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret-level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
