Description
Primary Purpose: Provides support to the Chief Tax Officer and clients in using knowledge and discretion in various Accounting responsibilities related to the preparation and review of tax returns to include estate, fiduciary, individual, gift, charitable entity, and retirement plan tax returns. Essential Responsibilities:
- Completes responsibilities required to balance and reconcile assigned accounts and Trust accounting system.
- Performs daily reconciliation of Trust company DDA and Federal Reserve holdings to trust accounting system.
- Maintains budget accounting system producing financial reports for decision- making purposes.
- Completes activities required to process and post bills.
- Assists in the preparation and filing of individual, fiduciary, estate, and gift tax returns; to include basic tax return preparation.
- Reviews trust account information and transactions to ensure proper coding and tax mapping monthly to ensure the accuracy of data before uploading to applicable software.
- Uses knowledge and discretion in processing tax returns to include billing, contacting clients, and import sheets for Global Wealth for any payments and estimated taxes.
- Serves as an IRA resource to the Personal Trust Team and others.
- Performs IRA administration responsibilities with discretion to include, but not limited to, reviewing of IRAs, maintaining the updates to the IRA forms, processing disbursements, proper IRA tax coding, reviewing 1099s before they are issued.
- Responsible for the RMD process including compliance, correspondence and client distributions.
- Assists in the budgeting process through compilation, preparation, and dissemination of data and reports.
- Prepares, reviews, and produces a variety of data collection and reports.
- Accountable for the understanding of and adherence to operational controls, policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with bank policies and related laws and regulations
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
- Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:
- Associate degree in Accounting or related field; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of accounting and/or tax experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic tax preparation, Court Accountings, and general accounting systems, methods, and procedures.
- Knowledge of IRA plans and regulations and ability to communicate and guide such to others.
- Proficiency in general ledger accounting
- Intermediate level knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive) with the ability to learn other job specific software applications.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to distill and convey information in a compelling manner.
- Skill in adopting technological advancements and facilitating into current and future responsibilities
- Skill in analyzing situations and applying critical thinking in order to resolve problems and decide on courses of action.
- Ability to accomplish/complete a task while demonstrating a thorough concern for all the areas involved, no matter how small.

Desired Skills & Competencies:
- Experience with Tax support in a financial institution/Wealth Management company.
Physical Requirements:
