Grounds Manager - JLL

What this job involves - We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Grounds Manager to join our team. As the Grounds Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the grounds department and ensure the efficient maintenance and care of the client campus and Athletic Fields. This position requires a strong understanding of grounds maintenance operations, budget management, personnel supervision, and adherence to safety regulations.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Plan, oversee, and perform daily grounds maintenance operations

  • Monitor grounds budget to ensure efficient use of labor hours and material purchases

  • Conduct personnel reviews for grounds employees

  • Perform routine inspections of grounds and sports fields

  • Develop and monitor preventive maintenance programs for grounds equipment

  • Communicate regularly with client staff regarding grounds operations and special events

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines

  • Keep a detailed daily log of issues and progress throughout the year

  • Maintain accurate logs of chemical, seed, and fertilizer usage

  • Conduct safety training and ensure adherence to SDS guidelines

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and manuals for equipment maintenance and repair

  • Follow all company, client, and regulatory policies

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grounds maintenance or related role

  • Knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment and procedures

  • Familiarity with horticultural practices, tree care, and sports field maintenance

  • Previous experience supervising and managing teams of grounds personnel

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs for grounds equipment

  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, staff, and subcontractors

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to enforce compliance

  • Proficiency in using computer software for recordkeeping and reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience supervising and managing teams of grounds personnel

  • Understanding of blueprints and manuals for installation and repair of equipment

  • Familiarity with SDS guidelines and recordkeeping for chemicals and fertilizers

Work Environment:

  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate motor vehicles and equipment

  • Physical fitness to lift/move heavy equipment, materials, and tools

  • Perform daily campus walks auditing exterior areas

  • Ability to work outside of traditional hours, as needed

Location: Tuskegee, AL
