Position Overview

QinetiQ is looking for a Sr. Manager, Operations Governance to join our team!

This individual would be responsible for developing and maintaining the frameworks, standards, and processes that guide the organization's operational excellence and strategic execution. This role establishes and refines the governance structures that ensure consistency, efficiency, and alignment across business functions. Acting as an informal leader and trusted advisor, the Senior Manager partners with executives and operational leaders to drive strategic planning, support long-term objectives, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.



Responsibilities

Governance & Standards Development

    Build, implement, and maintain operational standards that define how the business effectively operates.
  • Establish governance frameworks to support decision-making, accountability, and operational discipline across the enterprise.
  • Develop and refine operational policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistent execution and compliance.

Strategic Planning & Alignment

  • Lead the creation and implementation of strategic planning processes, templates, and frameworks that guide organizational prioritization and long-term planning.
  • Collaborate with leaders to translate strategic goals into actionable plans, performance measures, and operational roadmaps.
  • Support executives and business units in aligning initiatives, resources, and KPIs with strategic objectives.

Operational Leadership & Influence

  • Act as an informal leader, influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority to ensure adherence to governance standards and operational best practices.
  • Facilitate alignment between functional groups and remove barriers to effective collaboration and decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on operational readiness, business performance, and governance matters.

Process Improvement & Optimization

  • Identify opportunities for process and operational improvements across the governance framework and day-to-day operations.
  • Lead or coordinate initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance consistency, and increase operational maturity.
  • Monitor operational performance and recommend corrective actions based on data, risk indicators, and business needs.

Risk & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure operational policies and procedures support regulatory, contractual, and internal compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Finance, HR, IT, and other functions to maintain alignment with broader governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and partner with teams to develop mitigation plans for operational gaps or inefficiencies.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in operations management, business governance, strategic planning, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing organizational standards, frameworks, or policies.
  • Strong understanding of cross-functional business operations and organizational change.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and lead initiatives across diverse teams.
  • Excellence in strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication.
