- Mission of the Role
- Lead the engineering organization responsible for building and maintaining resilient, high-throughput financial systems supporting institutional workflows.
- Drive architecture and execution of platforms that integrate traditional settlement, custody, and ledgering with emerging digital-asset technologies.
- Ensure reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance across all systems, with a focus on operational excellence and production stability.
- Build the bridge between on-chain and off-chain worlds, enabling scalable hybrid architectures that support smart contracts, blockchain event flows, and traditional financial system controls.
- Develop and mentor engineering talent, reinforcing a culture of ownership, velocity, technical rigor, and modern SDLC practice.
The ideal candidate has deep experience running high-availability financial applications, understands post-trade workflows (with preference for settlement & clearing), and brings strong engineering leadership. Experience with blockchain, smart contracts, or digital asset infrastructure is a major plus-but we will train the right leader who shows the ability to learn and architect across on-chain and off-chain domains. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways: - Lead and mentor a high-performing Agile pod of 4-5 engineers, fostering delivery excellence, collaboration, and engineering best practices.
- Architect and build Java-based microservices (Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA/Hibernate) deployed on Kubernetes with a focus on performance, scalability, and enterprise-grade security.
- Design and implement REST APIs with resilience patterns and async messaging; apply enterprise design patterns (CQRS, Saga, Event Sourcing) for robust, scalable solutions.
- Integrate off-chain services with Ethereum smart contracts (Solidity) and Web3, ensuring secure and compliant interactions across on-chain and off-chain systems.
- Own Oracle database schema design, SQL/PLSQL optimization, partitioning, and ensuring transaction consistency and data integrity.
- Establish and mature CI/CD automation (Jenkins, GitLab Pipelines) with strong quality gates (SonarQube, static analysis) and enforce coding standards.
- Lead test strategy and automation across unit, integration, contract, and API testing (JUnit, Mockito, TestNG, REST Assured, Cucumber framework) and embed into regression pipelines
- Implement and operationalize observability practices (Prometheus, Grafana) to ensure reliability, proactive monitoring, and rapid incident response.
- Partner closely with product managers, architects, QA, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver compliant, resilient digital asset solutions.
Drive adherence to regulatory and risk controls (e.g., AML, KYC, travel rule) in solution design and delivery. To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following: - Expertise in secure software development and cryptography; partner with cryptographers to help build a highly secure and resilient crypto and tokenized assets custody solution.
- Proficiency in secure coding practices (C/C++, Go, Rust) for cryptographic components; experience delivering code resilient to sidechannel and related attacks.
- Experience using or auditing cryptographic libraries (OpenSSL, MPCspecific frameworks) and familiarity with hardware security features (Intel SGX, HSMs), including Trusted Execution Environments and remote attestation.
- Strong threat modeling; perform cryptofocused code reviews and design tests to identify vulnerabilities (e.g., maninthemiddle risks in MPC rounds, malicious client applications).
- Practical exposure to cryptographic protocols (implementing or auditing key exchange/signature schemes) and awareness of common pitfalls (insufficient randomness, error handling leaks).
- Integration with blockchain nodes/APIs; understanding of transaction formats (Bitcoin UTXOs, Ethereum RLP); ability to parse, create, and broadcast transactions across multiple networks.
- Knowledge of secure storage and databases (encrypted key shares, audit logs) and strong networking/concurrency fundamentals (sockets, RPC frameworks) to orchestrate communication between signing parties.
- Familiarity with cloud security and containerization best practices to avoid misconfigurations and support secure deployments.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Advanced degree or relevant certifications in Software Engineering or Project Management is preferred.
- Typically, 6-10 years of experience in application development management or a related field; securities/financial services experience is a plus.
