RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversee and review all AP transactions; approve payables for disbursement based on the Accounts Payable Aging Schedule.
* Review aging reports and follow up with AP staff to ensure timely resolution.
* Ensure adherence to financial policies and internal controls related to disbursements.
* Ensure accounts receivable schedules are maintained and outstanding balances are collected.
* Review AR and revenue journal entries; ensure that accruals are accurate and timely.
* Partner with the Development department to reconcile fundraising data and ensure receivables are invoiced, monitored, and collected.
* Coordinate day-to-day grant tracking and data accuracy with Development.
* Oversee Medicaid billing as part of financial transactional activities.
* Monitor and manage cash flow; conduct regular projections and analysis for the Executive Director and Board.
* Conduct analysis and create schedules to maintain clarity on the organization's cash position.
* Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts; ensure reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner.
* Oversee the cash deposits process (Panini); ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
* Receive and incorporate recoupment analysis data from the Senior Accountant into cash flow planning.
* Lead the monthly and year-end general ledger close process; ensure timely posting and accuracy of recurring and adjusting journal entries.
* Reconcile key balance sheet accounts including prepaids, accrued expenses, contract receivables, fixed assets, investment accounts, and payroll-related accruals.
* Own and ensure accuracy of all general ledger entries.
* Confirm accuracy of petty cash balances as part of close.
* Book Right-of-Use assets and investment entries during close as needed.
* Prepare internal financial statements for review by the Executive Director and presentation to leadership.
* Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reviews, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and revenue maximization.
* Provide and prepare financial data and reports required by funders, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
* Support the annual financial audit and other periodic audits, including LP audits, post-payment audits, and government reviews.
* Assist in designing and implementing the annual agency-wide budget process, including development of assumptions, overhead allocations, and training of executive, program, and operations staff.
* Include estimates of public and private revenues and cost center-specific expenses.
* Ensure budget data is accurately uploaded into accounting systems.
* Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual budget vs. actual reporting and analysis by program and facility.
* Review allocation schedules and ensure contractually accurate allocation percentages.
* Monitor contract budgets to ensure claims are maximized.
* Support contract budgeting and financial reporting to external stakeholders.
* Manage restricted fund classifications for contract billing.
* Supervise government contract and grant claims reporting; ensure accurate and timely reimbursement submissions.
* Provide financial support for grant applications and required reporting.
* Partner with Development on grant-related financial tracking and reconciliation.
* Access ADP for payroll reporting and distribute reports to external entities as required.
* Oversee payroll-related journal entries, benefit accruals, and COBRA and Medicaid billing.
* Serve as superuser for Bill.com and FundEZ: maintain vendor accounts, update account and policy coding structures, and oversee configuration settings.
* Manage the Chart of Accounts to ensure alignment with the organization's reporting and operational needs.
* Follow the organization's Financial Policy and Procedure Manual; recommend improvements and updates to financial processes, procedures, and internal controls as needed.
* Participate in senior staff meetings to prioritize and track Finance Department initiatives.
* Own and assign special projects as needed to finance team members.
* Directly supervise two staff members.
* Develop positive, collaborative, and constructive relationships with the CFO, other finance staff, the Executive Director, and other departmental leaders.
* Maintain the highest level of confidentiality related to financial data, decision-making, and executive discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA required, MBA preferred
* Experience in Nonprofit accounting strongly preferred, but not required
* A minimum of eight years of experience as an accountant. Public accounting experience a plus. Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles required.
* A demonstrated record of using analytical skills to produce reports that enhance the financial decision-making capacity of management with a specific emphasis on accounting and system analysis.
