POSITION SUMMARY



The Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor manages the Fleet Safety Program to ensure all work is conducted in a safe manner and complies with the Contract, as well as with County, State and local requirements, rules, and regulations, including all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal OSHA) standards. Identifies and appraises conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluates potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents.

Pay Range $65,000 - $75,000/annually



RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Manage and execute the Centerra Vehicle Fleet Projects Safety and Environmental Programs
  • Develop accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents and prepares reports for information of personnel concerned
  • Maintain liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams to assure information exchange and mutual assistance.
  • Visit Project outlying stations to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, and materials
  • Manage, update, conduct, track and brief the hazard communications program, hazardous material spill containment plan, employee safety program, employee safety manual, and weekly, quarterly, and annual safety inspections
  • Manage, develop, and brief Work Hazard Analysis at all locations and brief Project employees


  • Track, complete and post the OSHA 300A at all Project sites
  • Manage, inspect, and ensure employees are properly trained on tool and equipment safety and operation including, but not limited to; forklifts, tugs, hoists, drills, welders, grinders, air compressors, tire machines, balancers, and electrical apparatus, frame machines, alignment systems, etc.)
  • Manage, brief, and update the Employee Safety Manual
  • Track and manage all Safety sign-in rosters for Safety Meetings and Training
  • Train, track, investigate and manage all accidents, incidents, and occupational accidents
  • Track and manage safety equipment in appropriate quantities, including, but not limited to: eye wash stations, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, fuel caddies, hazardous material spill kits, and oily rag containers
  • Manage employee and business permits, licenses, endorsements, and certifications. These include, but are not limited to, those involving paint spray booths, hazardous materials, air conditioning machines, safety, environmental, BAR emission, BAR or ASE brakes, and various miscellaneous operating permits
  • Monitor Energy Saving measures for possible implementation and provide the Project Director to brief the County
  • Manage Project Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)/Safety Data Sheet (SDS) at all Project sites
  • Assist department supervisors with all Project vehicle and equipment safety inspections
  • Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies
  • Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees and vendors
  • Track incident metrics and apply findings
  • Other duties as assigned



QUALIFICATIONS



  • Safety related bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum (3) years of experience running a safety/health program
  • The following Certifications/Training preferred:


    • OSHA 30-hour General Industry
    • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
    • First Aid/CPR


  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.

WORKING CONDITIONS



Work is typically based in a busy service center/maintenance garage environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may also be required.
