Description

This position, in conjunction with the cHOP team, is responsible for developing, administering, evaluating and implementing training seminars, workshops and programs related to the SIU School of Medicine's Organization and Employee Development programs.


Examples of Duties

Demonstrates, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIU School of Medicine. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers through collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement.

Administration 5%
1. In
conjunction with the cHOP team, develop, implement and maintain a plan for the expansion of the SOM's organization and employee development initiative.
2. Work with cHOP team to deliver the activities of the Organization and Employee
Development department.
3.
Collaborate on assessing and evaluating the quality all services and programs provided for the purpose of being able to consistently offer state of the art products.
4. Works with cHOP team to assess risk associated with changes and initiatives and develops plans to mitigate risks
. 5. Assist leaders and faculty as they implement and adapt Organization Development strategies and tools in the effort to meet organizational needs.
6. Market and promote Organization and Employee Development services.
7. Serves as a liaison for Organization and Employee Development between the School of Medicine and community hospitals, external consultants, affiliates, and clinical partners
8. Coordinates activities with
Human Resources for specific projects including new employee orientation, HealthStream and other online learning activities.
9. Participate in School of Medicine and SIU Medicine committees as needed.

Organization
Development Consulting 30%
1. Assists in the design and implementation of specific Organization Development services focused on Change Management, Process Improvement, Performance Enhancement and the improvement of Organizational Culture.
2. Provide Performance
and Learning Analysis services to School of Medicine departments and SIU Medicine Clinics
3. In
collaboration with cHOP team, work directly with leaders and faculty of all levels to address the development and workplace culture/satisfaction needs of all learners and employees
4.
As appropriate and in coordination with HR, provide Conflict Resolution, Mediation, and Management services in both an advisory and consulting capacity t o School of Medicine and SIU Medicine leadership, faculty, staff, and learners.
5. In
collaboration with cHOP team, oversee, implement, and present the employee engagement survey for all School of Medicine and SIU Medicine employees. Eng age SIU School of Medicine and SIU Medicine leadership in the creation of action plans in response to employee satisfaction survey results.
Professional Development and Wellness Coaching 30%
1. In
collaboration with cHOP team, collaborate on the initiative to educate School of Medicine and SIU Medicine leadership and faculty in various methods of Em ployee Performance and Engagement Coaching. Conduct coaching training certification workshops and seminars. Develop instructor led and asynchronous training courses
2. Provide
Coaching services at the School of Medicine and SIU Medicine.
3. Provide Executive and Professional Development Coaching to School of Medicine and SIU Medicine leadership, faculty, and emerging leaders.
4. Manages the
individual development plan and planning process for participants of the Executive and Professional Development Coaching program.
5. In
collaboration with HR, provide remedial coaching in instances of an employee's poor performance or a lack of adherence to the School's Behavior Standards.
Employee/Learner Training and Education 30%
1. Participate
in the design and creation of employee development training courses and programs
2. Present
School wide training programs, courses, and workshops designed to improve the capacity and performance of participants.
3. Participate
in the ongoing development of and delivery of new employee orientation.
4. .
Collaborate on the School wide new employee Onboarding program.
5.
In conjunction with cHOP Leaders, assist in the development of the SIU School of Medicine Leadership Competency Model that will be utilized as the foundation to develop and train all leadership staff within the School and SIU Medicine
6. Produce
high level E-Learning courses focused on Professional and Leadership Development through the HealthStream Learning Management System .
Resea r c h 5%
1. Serve
on team that conducts organization development research within the School's academic healthcare setting
2. Work
with the Office of the Associate Dean for Research for contract and grant proposals within organizational development.

Qualifications

Credentials to be Verified by Placement Officer

1) High school graduate or equivalent; AND

2) Any one, or any combination that totals 4 years (48 months) from the following:

A. credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in education or other fields related to training and development such as human resource administration or business administration or closely related fields

30 semester hours equals 12 months
60 semester hours equals 24 months
90 semester hours equals 36 months
120 semester hours or a Bachelor's Degree equals 48 months

B. credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in fields other than those previously listedBachelor's Degree equals 3 years (36 months)
Master's Degree equals 4 years (48 months)

3) 2 years of professional work experience in the training and development profession*
* A Master's degree in education or other fields closely related to training and development (such as human resource administration or business administration) or a Master's degree with a concentration in these fields may be substituted for 1 year of such experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's)

  1. knowledge of educational terminology, theory, and methodology
  2. reading and writing skills for all levels of information dissemination
  3. ability to conceptualize, define, design, and construct training programs and course material
  4. ability to communicate effectively

Condition of Employment
