Job Title: CT Technologist Location: Cala Hills Reports To: ASC Administrator Travel Required: Varies Salary Range: $35-$50 per hr. Position Type: PRN/PT Job Purpose: Operates computed tomography (CT) scanner to produce cross-sectional radiographs of patient’s body for diagnostic purposes by performing the following duties. Duties: Greets patient and provides instructions on procedure. Positions and immobilizes patient on examining table, using supportive devices to obtain precise patient position and following protocols specified by Radiologist. Obtains pertinent medical history for exam. Fills patient history/screening sheet out completely and accurately. Make sure patient history/screening sheet, order and previous reports are scanned into PACS for Radiologist. Make sure notes are entered into PACS for Radiologist. Select patient name from work list or enter patient manually and use the downtime procedure for accession numbers. When exam is done, network the appropriate images to PACS. QA images for quality, (window and level), annotation RT and LT for extremities. Administers or assists Physician in contrast media administration. Is able to establish IV access. Enters data such as type of scan requested, slice thickness; scan time, and other technical data into computer. Start CT scanner to scan designated anatomical area of patient. Talks to patient over intercom system and observes patient through window of control room to monitor patient safety and comfort. Views images of organs or tissue on video display screen to ensure quality of pictures. Evaluates images and computer-generated information for technical quality. Responsible for knowing and following all policies and regulations related to radiation protection, OSHA regulations, universal precautions/infection control, biohazardous waste and ergonomics (basic lifting skill). Maintain individual and Company accreditation requirement if applicable. Reports equipment malfunctions and/or need for adjustment to the appropriate equipment vendor, CT supervisor and Site Manager in a timely manner. Documents equipment service as outlined by RAO/CVI. Logs radiologic procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies. Processes images using computer equipment and software as directed. Adheres to and follows PACS protocols and workflow established by RAO/CVI. Make sure all WET reads as established by RAO, are so noted in the PACS notes. Responsible for notifying the referring physicians of preliminary WET reads as outlined by RAO.
