The Position

Genentech is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Site Utility Manager to oversee the operation and maintenance of our state-of-the-art utility systems, including a high-voltage electrical substation, cutting-edge microgrid, centralized thermal heating/cooling, and emergency power systems. In this pivotal role, you will build and lead a team of utility experts, drive major infrastructure projects, ensure safe and resilient power delivery, and contribute to long-term energy reliability for mission-critical operations. The Site Utility Manager leads all aspects of our site-wide utility infrastructure. This strategic leadership role is the owner of mission-critical assets, including our high-voltage electrical substation, an integrated microgrid, centralized thermal heating/cooling, and emergency power systems. This position is responsible for building and leading the team that will operate and maintain our new private substation and microgrid in addition to other energy utility infrastructure site wide. The Senior Manager will also serve as the user lead for related design and construction projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and resilient power delivery for our mission-critical operations. This role assumes full responsibility for the long-term maintenance of all energy utilities after project completion and commissioning. The Opportunity Key Responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
Certification as a Certified Energy Manager or a related credential. This position is not eligible for relocation. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $138,000 - $256,400 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
