Position Summary:
The lab focuses on developing stroke therapeutics in aging populations, with a specific emphasis on drug development for treating stroke and other age-associated brain diseases in the context of kidney disease and hypertension. We seek highly motivated and productive individuals with experience in in vivo and/or in vitro studies to join our research team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform rodent brain surgeries and study molecular mechanisms of brain damage to determine and develop neuroprotective therapies.
  • Conduct molecular biology, neurobiology, gene and protein assays, cell signaling, intracerebral injections, single-cell or single-nucleus RNA sequencing analysis, bioinformatics, and neurobehavioral testing in mice.
  • Train other lab members and volunteers.
  • Maintenance of lab protocols and operations.
  • Manuscript writing and scientific presentations at national and international conferences.
  • New project developments and other brain research-related activities as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., PharmD or equivalent doctoral degree with training in the areas of neurobiology, biomedical sciences or a related discipline.
  • Displayed proficiency in lab research techniques required.
  • Attention to details and research integrity are essential to support written documentation, present findings, and project report submissions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate experience in brain surgeries and neurobehavioral evaluations in rodent models with strong interpersonal and writing skills.
