Description

This role coordinates key activities across System Planning, including coordinating the Long Range Transmission Planning (LRTP) development, supporting long-term technology evolution, and technical support for reliability economic, interregional, and policy planning. The advisor ensures compliance with planning processes while driving strategic initiatives that strengthen reliability and advance long-term business goals.

How you'll make an impact:



  • Lead annual MTEP report development, stakeholder review, and support for the MISO Board approval.
  • Support System Planning staff on regional and interregional planning efforts, including LRTP.
  • Compile, analyze, and present status reports to management.
  • Prepare reports for transmission owners, stakeholder committees, regulators (state, FERC, NERC), and other partners on long-term transmission planning value.
  • Contribute to divisional budgets and forecasts aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Improve processes by proposing and implementing innovative, timely solutions.
  • Apply sound independent judgment to make recommendations and solve problems.
  • Exercise professional discretion and independent judgment in day-to-day work.


What success looks like:



  • Strong integration into System Planning with key relationships established across the divisions.
  • Delivery of an improved, more targeted MTEP26 report using a more efficient process.
  • Clear definition of scope for Midwest and South LRTP studies in collaboration with System Planning leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Effective support for regional Order 1920 filings.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships that support influence beyond direct authority.


Qualifications for our Transmission Planning Coordination and Strategy Advisor:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • Six years of relevant experience required; eight years preferred.
  • Minimum five years in Planning or Operations.
  • Proven ability to develop, communicate, and coordinate project plans.
  • Prior energy industry experience.


Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $125,000-$145,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
