Overview
Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a HPC SYstems Anaylst to support the IT program at a major national laboratory. We are seeking a candidate with experience in IT Computing Infrastructure to join our dynamic One Stop Service Desk team. As a member of this team, you will provide a comprehensive interface for user support in scientific, engineering, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments. The team is responsible for the full lifecycle management of user support capabilities, including a ticketing system, web portal, knowledge base, group chat system, and training room. Qualified applicants must possess the technical skills necessary to support a cutting-edge computational science and engineering environment, along with a strong customer service ethic.
Responsibilities
Provide interactive troubleshooting for users in a complex computing hardware and software environment, including:
- High-performance computing cluster usag
- Engineering software installation and usage
- Mattermost system and application administration and user support
- Deploy servers to support continuous integration jobs, leading the containerized production deployment of user support applications.
- Manage the OneStop System Administration Project:
- Ensure all OneStop servers and applications are updated
- Train less experienced system administrators on OneStop server administration and deployments.
- Plan project activities for the year.
- Report on project activities bi-weekly and on plan progress quarterly.
- Participate in cross-organizational teams handling requests for new services from 9320 or Mission Computing Services.
- Plan and direct upgrades of user support web applications or of Apache or Red Hat on its server.
- Troubleshoot connection errors to applications or servers using system logs.
- Collaborate with specialized application and system supporters to identify advanced solutions to user issues.
- Monitor user issue tickets through to resolution by other support teams and document resolutions in a knowledge base.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Must be US CItizen
- Candidates must reside in the Albuquerque area as onsite work is required.
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
Required Skills:
- Familiarity/experience with programming and scripting languages such as Bash or Java
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently.
- Effective oral and written communications skills along with a strong customer service commitment.
- Experience working with application vendors to understand, implement and maintain applications in a Linux environment
- Familiar with information security best practices
- Experience in installing, monitoring, maintaining, and repairing physical and virtual server systems. Ability to resolve technical issues affecting hardware, operating systems (Linux), or applications. Experience applying operating system or application patches, installing or replacing hardware, and implementing configuration changes to improve or restore system performance.
- Familiarity with programming and scripting languages such as Bash or Java.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, along with a strong commitment to customer service.
- Experience working with application vendors to understand, implement, and maintain applications in a Linux environment.
