Overview

As the Office Safety Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. in our Franklin, TN office, you will support the day-to-day operation of CEC's Health & Safety Program at the local office level and serve as a resource for other offices in the Southeast Region. You will act as a liaison between the Franklin office and corporate safety leadership, helping ensure compliance with CEC's safety policies while fostering a positive, proactive safety culture. You will coordinate new hire safety orientations, facilitate monthly inspections, assist with incident reporting, maintain organized safety documentation, and communicate safety initiatives while promoting accountability and awareness across the team.

Key Responsibilities:

    Conduct in-person safety orientations with new hires during their first week
  • Serve as the local point of contact and resource for CEC's Health & Safety Program
  • Assist with incident response and reporting, including employee injuries/illnesses and vehicle incidents
  • Communicate current safety policies, practices, and procedures to the office team
  • Participate in monthly Corporate Health & Safety Committee calls and provide office feedback or concerns
  • Coordinate completion of safety training to meet OSHA, CEC, and client requirements
  • Present 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher training internally
  • Perform monthly office safety inspections and maintain inspection records
  • Assist with field safety audits, job hazard assessments, and pre-job briefings
  • Manage the office Emergency Action Plan and lead the annual office evacuation drill
  • Establish and maintain an organized filing system for local safety records with the Office Administration Manager/Assistant
  • Provide guidance on Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training and medical monitoring requirements; plan, schedule, and track medical monitoring for applicable staff
  • Serve as a safety resource during project planning activities, developing mitigation strategies for known field hazards including confined space entry, fall protection, lock-out/tag-out, active construction sites, and chemical handling
  • Facilitate a positive office safety culture through initiatives and programs emphasizing the importance of safety
  • Effectively communicate internal safety guidance to CEC personnel using work experience and applicable resources
  • Coordinate with the vehicle fleet manager to ensure appropriate vehicle safety equipment is installed, monitor GPS tracking information, and enforce vehicle safety standards

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction and general industry safety programs;
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or Safety related field required;
  • Working knowledge and experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including the shipping of hazardous goods;
  • Experience or interest in environmental consulting or engineering work environments;
  • Prior involvement in office or field safety coordination, with a focus on construction or environmental remediation projects;
  • Working knowledge of emergency response protocols and OSHA safety standards;
  • Ability to deliver First Aid, CPR, AED Training;
  • OSHA 10-hr, 30-hr, or 40-hr HAZWOPER Certifications;
  • Experience as Radiation Safety Officer or willingness to be trained;
  • Industrial hygiene experience.
