SUMMARY Performs electrical and instrumentation related work assignments for the Instrument & Controls Department based on job requests from the Production Department. The I/E Technician position contains five levels of progression. Primary responsibilities listed below are for a level 5 (highest level of progression) I/E Technician. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Operates and maintains switchgear and electrical power distribution equipment up to 13.8kV. 2. Perform switching and coordinate with Electric Utility and contractors for maintenance on electrical systems up to 230kV. 3. Repairs and inspects high/low voltage electrical wiring and systems. 4. Performs periodic substation equipment inspections and meter readings. 5. Connects, disconnects and troubleshoots electric motors and motor starters. 6. Installs, programs and troubleshoots Variable Frequency Drives. 7. Maintains and troubleshoots UPS and Battery systems. 8. Removes, installs and replaces electrical lighting and fixtures. 9. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, etc., pipe, conduit, and tubing. 10. Familiar with and follows electrical safe work practices in accordance with NFPA 70E. ADDITIONAL DUTIES 1. Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description. 2. Comply with all Company policies and procedures. 3. Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams. 4. Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned. 5. Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of others. Promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental issues or incidents to management. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS * Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work. * A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required. * High School graduate plus one to two years of additional education in electrical and/or instrumentation schools. * Two to five years field experience in Instrument/Electrical Field.
