Description & Requirements

We are seeking a Senior Computational Scientist II with PhD training and 8+ years of experience that will pursue original research in mitochondrial genomics, genetics, integrative genomics, systems biology. This individual will be highly motivated, hardworking, present original research in publications and in conferences, and will mentor junior members of the lab including students, fellows, and other scientists. This person will also work with our collaborators and aid in grant writing as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD with 8+ years of related experience
  • Highly developed knowledge in computational and mathematical theory to design and implement major research projects that solve complex computational and mathematical problems
  • Designs and leads large-scale analyses and interprets results in a biological context
  • Highly proficient in translating high-level scientific goals into concrete computational approaches, coordinating collaborative approaches
  • Highly proficient in computational and programming skills; experience with object-oriented programming and scripting languages (Java, C/C++, Python, Perl) and scientific computing tools (MATLAB, R)

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Sedentary work. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, qualifications, and other factors permissible by law.
