What you'll do:

As the Purchasing Manager for Utilimaster (An Aebi Schmidt Group Brand), you will lead a team of professionals responsible for driving
value-creating sourcing strategies across multiple commodities and supplier
networks. This leadership role ensures alignment of sourcing initiatives with
organizational goals for cost, quality, innovation, and risk mitigation. You
will provide strategic direction, coaching, and oversight to your team while
collaborating cross-functionally to support current product lines and new
product launches.


Core
Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Strategic Commodity Managers and Sourcing Agents, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Set clear performance objectives and provide regular feedback to ensure team success.
  • Strategic Oversight: Define and implement overarching commodity strategies that align with corporate goals for cost, quality, and innovation. Oversee supplier negotiations and agreements, ensuring consistency and compliance across all sourcing activities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Quality teams to support product development and operational excellence. Act as a key liaison between supply chain leadership and commodity managers to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Guide the team in managing supplier performance across quality, cost, capacity, and delivery metrics. Ensure strategic supplier segmentation and rationalization to optimize value and mitigate risk.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Oversee cost analysis, make-vs-buy evaluations, and total cost of ownership assessments for major sourcing decisions. Monitor industry trends and global market conditions to inform strategic planning.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure adherence to company terms and conditions, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements. Develop contingency plans to address supply chain disruptions and maintain business continuity.

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex sourcing strategies across multiple commodities.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills with a track record of delivering measurable cost savings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and program management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
