About The Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer/Machinist to join our team in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will play a key part in the design, prototyping, and fabrication of precision mechanical components that support our advanced products and systems.

This position offers a unique opportunity to combine mechanical design expertise with hands-on machining experience, working in close collaboration with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams. This is a full-time onsite position (Monday-Friday) and requires close collaboration with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines, mills, lathes, and other shop equipment to manufacture high-tolerance parts.

  • Collaborate with engineers and technical teams to iterate on designs and address manufacturing challenges.

  • Interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and apply GD&T standards.

  • Perform dimensional and quality inspections to ensure all components meet design requirements.

  • Document machining processes, setup procedures, and assembly instructions.

  • Maintain and calibrate shop equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.

  • Support product development through hands-on prototyping and creative mechanical solutions.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Mechanical Design, Machining, or a related field (bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is a plus).

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design and precision machining.

  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and CAM programming tools.

  • In-depth knowledge of machining processes, mechanical materials, tolerances, and manufacturing best practices.

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting both CNC and manual machining equipment.

  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings.

  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
