Propulsion System Development and Calibration Engineer

The Propulsion System Development & Calibration Engineer is responsible for conducting propulsion systems (ePT, Trans and Engine) development, testing and calibration. The engineer will plan and coordinate day to day activities of a powertrain dynamometer including interaction with technicians and support engineers. In addition, test plans and timelines will be developed and reports generated to communicate the status of the program to the larger team. Evaluations will occur with new propulsion system hardware and powertrain technologies for future and carry over applications. The engineer will analyze and solve complex system problems as they relate to propulsion system performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and core calibration development. The engineer will manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of data. The engineer will also actively participate in the decision process of propulsion system hardware selection and core calibration to achieve functional objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the development and calibration of gasoline spark ignition engines; or a Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 3 years of experience in the development and calibration of gasoline spark ignition engine.

* Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines, electrified powertrain and transmissions

* Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data

* Working knowledge of analysis and calibration tools, emissions development, new propulsion system technologies and competitive products

* Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills

* Good teamwork skills and ability to work independently

* Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

* Experience and overall knowledge in emissions development and OBDII diagnostics / powertrain systems development / controls systems development

* Calibration process knowledge using design of experiments and advanced optimization techniques

* Proficient in advanced simulation tools

* Proficient in Matlab / Simulink
