Overview

We're seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Test Engineer to lead our Dynamics and Environmental Test efforts. You'll be a key member of the engineering team, responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing complex tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of our critical hardware against real-world operational environments. You will also be a mentor for engineers and test technicians. This role requires deep expertise in vibration, shock, acoustic, thermal vacuum/cycling, environmental testing per industry and military standards.

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000/yr DOE



Responsibilities

    Test Program Leadership: Design, develop, and implement comprehensive test programs (Test Plans and Procedures) for components and systems, focusing on dynamic (vibration, shock, acoustic) and environmental (thermal cycling, TVAC, humidity) requirements.

  • Facility Management & Setup: Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of specialized test equipment, including electrodynamic shakers, climatic chambers, acoustic chambers, and associated data acquisition systems.

  • Instrumentation: Tech best practices to the lab for appropriate instrumentation, such as accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, and pressure transducers.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Perform advanced analysis of test data, identify failures, determine root causes, and generate detailed, professional test reports summarizing methods, results, and conclusions for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Standards & Compliance: Ensure all testing adheres to relevant industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, DO-160) and internal quality procedures.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with test technicians, engineers, and sales/quote team to interpret requirements, provide feedback on design-for-testability/reliability.

  • Mentorship: Mentor engineers and technicians on best practices for dynamics and environmental testing.



Skills / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: 10+ years of direct experience planning and executing Dynamics and Environmental Testing for high-reliability hardware (e.g., aerospace flight hardware, military systems, or mission-critical automotive components).
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Expertise in vibration control and analysis (random, sine, sine-on-random, shock response spectrum (SRS)).
  • Strong practical experience with thermal vacuum (TVAC), thermal cycling, and/or humidity testing.
  • Proficiency with data acquisition systems (Vibration Research, DaisyLab, NI, Labview)
  • Deep understanding of fixturing design and analysis for dynamic testing.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a rigorous attention to detail, and a proven ability to lead complex projects independently.
