Position Description:

Are you passionate about cutting-edge research at the intersection of biology, and medicine? We're seeking a talented Scientist to join our dynamic team! Our mission is to develop novel PET imaging agents for widely metastatic cancers and to develop novel radioligand therapies for such cancers and test them in cellular and animal models. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and have a keen interest in both imaging and treatment of cancer, this role is perfect for you!

A post-doctoral fellowship position is available in Theranostics Laboratory at Division of Nuclear Medicine/Dept. of Radiology of Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa. The Theranostics laboratory works on developing new radioligands for advanced malignancies. We are particularly interested in the preclinical development of new radioligands that can target therapy-resistant tumor cells.

A successful candidate should have a Ph.D., and/or M.D./Pharm.D. in the Biomedical Sciences (Chemistry, Pharmacy, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.) and a good publication record preferably in cancer research. Prior experience in molecular biology, molecular imaging or caner pharmacology with particular emphasis on cell culture, animal models, and/or cancer molecular imaging is desirable. Education Requirement:


  • Ph.D., Pharm.D., or M.D. in biomedical or related sciences (Chemistry, Pharmacy, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.) with at least one year of bench research experience.


Required Qualifications:


  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Experience with sterile mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with histochemical staining techniques such as immunofluorescence, and/or immunocytochemistry.
  • Desire andor experience in working with laboratory animals.
  • Excellent knowledge of basic biology as related to research design and experimentation.
  • Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques such PCR and RT-PCR.
  • Successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Experience with 3D cell cultures(tumor spheroids)
  • Experience with thin layer chromatography, column chromatography, HPLC, Mass SPECT
  • Experience with hybridization and radioligand labelling techniques.
  • Experience in working with laboratory animals including tissue dissection and processing.
