Description
The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Department Manager who will be responsible for delivering a wide range of nuclear fuel development and demonstration work. This position reports to the Director of the Fuel Fabrication & Nuclear Material Management (FFNMM) Division. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off. INL was established as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE to provide much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research, development and demonstration on nuclear technologies. The FF&NMM division seeks to support the INL's nuclear research mission through several key areas: 1) expanding our basic science research capabilities; 2) expanding our fuels development capabilities, including new processes; 3) expanding our irradiation experiment assembly capacity and capabilities; and 4) prepare for engineering-scale demonstration of new fuel systems. The department manager is responsible to provide strategic leadership and direction supporting these initiatives, with a primary focus on fuels development and experiment assembly. Responsibilities:

Minimum Requirements:
Preferred Experience: * Significant experience with materials and fuels fabrication techniques, nuclear fuel types and fuel performance. * Personnel management experience * Excellent communication, presentation, public speaking, technical writing and interpersonal skills. * Budget management understanding * Ability to develop department strategic plan with associated metrics Job Information: The target pay range for this position is $154,733 - $231,971 annually. The full pay range is $105,516 - $269,052. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required.
