POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology, and Education in the College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking an Administrative Assistant (Senior Support) to serve as staff assistant to the Department Head, performing complex, detailed tasks to support academic and administrative responsibilities.

The selected candidate will:

  • Provide support for the Promotion and Tenure process for department faculty, coordinate collection of faculty information for annual and extended performance reviews, collect peer teaching reviews and assemble SRTE results, oversee recordkeeping and reporting.

  • Attend monthly department faculty meetings and create meeting minutes in electronic format.

  • Prepare material for annual department report.

  • Responsible for support of department bylaws and managing the annual election process for committees in accordance with bylaws.

  • Work directly with faculty to initiate and coordinate Experiment Station Project establishment and reporting.

  • Oversee visiting scholar process from initial contact until arrival, including data entry into I-Start, AC 01 paperwork and communicating with the international office.

  • Maintain the calendar of the Department Head, coordinate meetings within the department, college, and university.

  • Provide support for the Annual ME John Seminar, department club travel, alumni newsletter and organization of department events.

  • Act on routine matters and refer others to appropriate personnel.

  • Delegate work as appropriate and assist with problem resolution and development of new procedures.

This is a hybrid position with three days on campus and two days remote.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision, multi-task, and be pro-active in preparing for deadlines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficiency in eStewart, Activity Insight and Microsoft Office desired.

  • Working knowledge of university systems and experience in an academic department.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $61,000.00.
