APP ( NP or PA) Specialty Practice - Psychiatry

Carilion Clinic has a full-time opportunity available for a nurse practitioner who wants to be an integral part of the St. Albans Psychiatry team located at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

This person will have outpatient responsibilities and will work with a talented group of caring professionals in an office setting. Clinical duties include patient visits to the clinic, completion of intake assessment, provision of medication management/review as well as care coordination as needed. This will be done in partnership with LPN on site. Teamwork and collaboration are vital skills for this rewarding and challenging position. Experience with mental health care is preferred. Hours are M-F 8-5.

The Nurse Practitioner has advanced knowledge and skills that qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patientas health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.

Education: Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

Experience: 0

Licensure/Certification: Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP), DEA license and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.

Other: Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers, good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
