How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - IR First Assist provides billable surgical first assist services, spending at least 40% of work time assisting in surgical procedures. The remaining time is spent on patient care, including pre-surgical assessments, post-surgical rounding, and ongoing patient management.

The APP functions as a primary healthcare provider within an interdependent healthcare team, performing health assessments, diagnostic screenings, minor trauma management, chronic disease care, and health maintenance.

How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

Seeking an Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join Interventional Radiology services at Carilion Clinic. This position will be a new role within a well-developed, advanced program offering a collaborative team, with nursing, radiologic technologists, (4) APPs and (7) physicians working together. The ideal candidate will have experience with clinical care as well as ultrasound and fluoroscopically guided procedures. Procedure experience is welcome. However, strong candidates without procedure experience will be considered. All training and proctoring will be provided with direct physician and/or APP oversight.

A collegial attitude is required. Strong clinical skills will be an asset to this clinically focused position.

Full time position to join the current APP team. APP will share responsibilities equally with the other APP team members to include inpatient pre-procedure consult and post-procedure-follow up, fluoroscopically guided spine and joint injections, US guided thyroid biopsies, venous access, drainage, biopsies, and other select procedures

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or bachelor's degree and graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.

Experience: Relevant clinical experience in surgical or procedural settings preferred.

Licensure, certification and/or registration: Current RN and NP license or NCCPA certification and current PA license. DEA license required.

Life Support: Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support preferred and may be required based on department needs

Other Minimum Qualifications: Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinics malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Commitment to continued professional development and adherence to ethical standards.
