Position Summary

The Medical Practice Specialist, Sr. is an integral member of the Department of Surgery, responsible for overseeing the department's clinical revenue-generating operations to ensure financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role manages and evaluates all billing systems and processes, coordinates revenue operations, and develops strategies to optimize reimbursement and streamline workflows. The Specialist oversees clinical and administrative revenue cycle processes used to capture, bill, and collect patient service revenue, ensuring accurate charge capture, efficient billing workflows, and timely reimbursement in compliance with all regulatory and institutional standards.

The Medical Practice Specialist, Sr. conducts complex revenue cycle analyses and prepares recurring and specialized reports to evaluate clinical performance and support data-driven decision-making. This position also contributes to the development and implementation of the Department of Surgery's annual revenue cycle action plan, monitors progress, and drives continuous improvement in revenue outcomes.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 9 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

- Strong background in revenue cycle management or a related healthcare field.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding, billing practices, and revenue cycle processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of reimbursement and policy impacts on fee schedules.
