Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for managing the billing and remittance responsibilities for all payers.

Job Functions


  1. Reviews sales orders for accuracy to ensure timely billing.
  2. Maintains recurrent billings, processes claims, all accounts receivable, and daily ledger of sales.
  3. Supports Order Specialists as needed regarding reimbursement/insurance criteria coverage.
  4. Maintains price tables and fee schedules.
  5. Acts as liaison with all county, waiver, and state aid programs.
  6. Monitors and tracks all denials.
  7. Performs chart audits.
  8. Supports and provides input into organizational and departmental quality improvement plans.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

When functioning as a Lead:


  1. Trains and mentors new and current staff.
  2. Assists HME Director with hiring, team communication, staffing/scheduling, time and attendance and performance management.
  3. Communicates concerns/issues to HME Director as appropriate.
  4. Assist HME Director with quality/productivity measures.
  5. Monitors worklist report and redistributes work as necessary.
  6. Displays a professional and positive attitude and understanding of the HME Reimbursement role.
  7. Displays a higher level of problem solving and conflict management and communication skills.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education / WorkExperience


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of health care billing and reimbursement experience
  • Experience in computer programs relating to spread sheets, database and word processing applications

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities


  • Ability to relate easily and well with others, projecting a positive and mature attitude to customers
  • Ability to be detail oriented, well organized, and process information from multiple sources to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
