Overview
Oversees Hospice operations to ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant, industry-leading hospice care that delivers an excellent consumer experience and makes a difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve in our communities. Leads overall planning, directing, monitoring, and reporting on, all hospice patient care activities. Models VNS Health values and ensures the delivery of consistent high-quality patient care that complies with Medicare Conditions of Participation and state and federal regulatory requirements and ensures an excellent consumer experience. Serves as key member of the VNS Health leadership team and is responsible for promoting a mission-led, patient-centric environment and culture, which inspires and rewards continuous performance improvement. What You Will Do
Program Oversight & Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day hospice operations, ensuring high-quality care and effective resource utilization.
- Evaluate program operations, identify opportunities for efficiency, and implement improvements that align with regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Ensure the hospice meets quality, financial, and employee experience goals.
- Oversee the development and implementation of training programs for staff.
Collaboration & Leadership:
- Build collaborative relationships with leadership and teams across the organization.
- Work with executive leadership to develop and execute clinical strategies and initiatives aligned with the hospice's mission and vision.
- Promote a mission-led, patient-centric environment and culture, which inspires and rewards continuous performance improvement.
Clinical Quality & Compliance:
- Oversee the development and implementation of clinical quality and compliance processes to ensure high-quality care.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and CHAP standards.
- Monitor clinical services to ensure they meet quality performance goals and provide excellent end-of-life care.
- Oversee monitoring services documentation to ensure compliance with care standards and maximize utilization of hospice resources.
Growth & Business Development:
- Partner with the Business Development team to identify, evaluate, and execute on growth strategies
- Build and nurture relationships with key external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, referral sources, and community organizations, to drive growth and strengthen the hospice's market position.
Resource Utilization & Financial Oversight:
- Manage performance against budget and forecast
- Monitor utilization of clinical resources to maximize reimbursement opportunities and minimize denials.
- Oversee initiatives to manage the utilization of medical supplies, durable medical equipment, and travel expenses.
Management & Policy Oversight:
- Participate in the development and administration of policies related to clinical and business operations.
- Oversee the hiring, training, promotions, and terminations of staff, ensuring adherence to the department budget and organizational policies.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an approved program required
- Master's Degree in Nursing, business or health administration preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of eight years in a hospice program with emphasis on clinical operations, quality, and compliance required. Minimum of three years of multi-site hospice clinical or operational management
- Minimum two years experience participating in state surveys and the accreditation process (i.e., JCAHO, ACHC, CHAP)
- Knowledge of Medicare conditions of participation, hospice federal and state regulations, clinical practice and billing requirements (CTI's, Plans of Care, IDG, Face to Face, etc.) required. Knowledge of CHAP Hospice Standards
- Must be knowledgeable of hospice payor audits including ADRs, ZPICs, UPICs, etc
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict, motivate staff and interact with superiors, peers and subordinates in a direct and professional manner
- Demonstrated ability to solve problem and make independent judgments and decisions based on experience and good judgment
- Proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Licenses/Certification Details
- License and current registration to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State required
- Hospice and Palliative Care certification preferred
- Hospice Administration certificate preferred
Pay Range
USD $172,900.00 - USD $230,500.00 /Yr.
