Your day might include:

  • Providing excellent member service and engaging with member borrowers to retain relationships, leverage opportunities for business development, and champion members' financial well-being.
  • Performing annual or periodic reviews, monitoring and analyzing business loans, documentation, and supporting data (financial statements, tax returns, etc.) to proactively identify risk factors such as cash flow and financial stability that may indicate potential problems with the loan.
  • Spreading financial statements and tax returns to evaluate sales and income trends, financial health, and repayment capacity.
  • Identifying and communicating potential risk situations based on the borrower's financial picture and recommending corrective actions to management, including mediation, renewal, placement on the watch list, or loan impairment.
  • Working directly with the Commercial Loan Officer to obtain all necessary financial statements and transaction information to analyze credit requests, and collaborating to clear payment past dues.
  • Tracking Loan Agreement compliance and ensuring that relationships within the portfolio are monitored per the terms of the Loan Agreement.
  • Preparing risk rating scorecards and related forms and reports to verify that ratings are accurately reflected and documented.
  • Completing the due diligence process by ordering appropriate reports and verifying and investigating collateral support, performing asset verification, and evaluating personal and business assets; performing annual site visits and inspections.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of general economic conditions and changing trends that may affect business loans, and conducting company, industry, and market analyses to further assess borrower credit quality.
  • Reviewing legal and loan documents to ensure accuracy in accordance with loan approval, determining viability and adequacy of collateral through valuation methods (such as appraisal reports, environmental studies, title reports, UCC searches, leases, and market data), and resolving document exceptions related to closing and ongoing exceptions.
  • Monitoring credit status and quality of loans on a regular basis, including assessment of current risk rating and testing borrower operating performance against original underwriting and projections upon receipt of required reporting information (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual financial statements, etc.).
  • Determining borrower and guarantor character, creditworthiness, and repayment ability through in-depth analysis of tax returns and financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, direct and indirect cash flow statements), using trend, cash flow, ratio, leverage, and projection analysis, including stress testing cash flow using criteria such as changes in interest rate and vacancy.
  • Reviewing and analyzing legal documents such as wills, trusts, corporate articles and by-laws, partnership agreements, and other information as necessary to fully underwrite the loan.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as requested by management.

What you bring to the team:

  • Seven (7) years in a lending environment, with a majority being in commercial lending or underwriting
  • Five (5) years of experience underwriting CRE and C&I credits preferred
  • Experience and expertise in CRE and C&I lending underwriting practices and risk management
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex lending situations, coordinating efforts with other team members.
  • Working knowledge of commercial lending with a commercial LOS and other automated tools.

Competitive Base Pay: $45.86 - $68.80 hourly, dependent on relevant qualifications, plus an annual discretionary incentive plan and benefits package

  • The target starting pay for this position is $45.86 - $57.33 hourly, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant's pay history into account.
  • The range above allows our employees room for growth through annual merit and other pay increase during their tenure in the position.

Position location: 330 Union Ave SE Olympia, WA. Employee must reside and perform all work in the state of Washington. This is a work from home/hybrid position with the exception of occasional on-site training, meetings and specific organization events.

When you'd work: Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. Full time minimum 40 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility to meet service needs for this non-exempt position.
