Job Description: Position is onsite in Midlothian, VA PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide legal counsel and support for Virginia Federal Credit Union under the direction of General Counsel. Collaborate with management to identify ways to reduce costs/enhance revenue and meet member service expectations while remaining compliant and managing legal risk. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge: Significant knowledge of policies and procedures, laws and regulations applicable to financial institutions, including but not limited to Reg. Z (Truth in Lending), RESPA, FCRA, Reg. E (Electronic Funds Transfer Act), BSA/OFAC, fair lending laws and others issued by banking regulators (NCUA or FDIC). Familiarity with Virginia state code and Bureau of Financial Institutions rules desired. Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Abilities: Able to work independently, organized, efficient, analytical, and detail-oriented. Professional appearance and manner. Able to build trust and work collaboratively with others. Minimum Education and Experience: Juris Doctor with active license and admission to a state bar (Virginia preferred) required. Three to five years of relevant experience in-house or at a law firm. Demonstrated experience researching and interpreting laws and regulations, with emphasis on financial institutions, including the ability to analyze complex legal requirements and documents. Prior exposure to compliance issues in a financial or similar institution is preferred. Ability to manage assigned matters with independence, apply sound legal judgment, and provide well-reasoned recommendations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This job requires the ability to sit for long periods of time. This job requires infrequent lifting or carrying of objects up to 10 pounds. | |
