The Manufacturing Engineer will assist the business unit in meeting its strategic goals through continuous improvement activities. This will include supporting kaizen events, Lean work cell design, standard product design revisions, cost improvement projects, DMAIC projects, small capital expenditure projects and supply chain initiatives.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
- As a project leader, develop a complete project plan including resources, costs, benefits and schedule, assume full responsibility for all aspects of the project to ensure it meets goals and schedule, communicate project status to stakeholders as appropriate, and follow up to ensure project results are sustained.
- Work with operators, team leaders and value stream planners to optimize process center layouts and designs incorporating material flow and line balancing.
- Using lean tools, communication skills and leadership abilities, lead and facilitate kaizen activities encouraging multi-functional groups to participate and meet common goals.
- Contribute to the development of the annual business unit plan based on value stream maps, the annual business unit metric deployment and management system assessment to drive waste reduction while improving employee safety.
- Lead and support capital expenditure requests and implementations using basic cost justification and business management principles.
- Engineering Change Order (ECO) processing: authorization of product and documentation changes.
- Maintenance work order requests: Support the completion of equipment and facility enhancements to promote safety, quality, and cost/service improvements.
- Complex, multi-part, and/or tightly toleranced fixture design, development, build/guide the fixture build, testing, and deployment.
- Review fixture designs for other value streams and provide feedback to fixture designer.
- Review and update work Instructions, standard work, and shop floor job aids.
- Serve as the FMEA leader for basic processes and participant for complex/advanced processes.
- Participate in development of control plans for production lines or processes.
- Participate in New Product Introductions.
- Lead and review change management activities.
- Support manufacturing lines in terms of process control, technical questions, and problem solving.
- Be a team participant in Root Cause Analysis (RCCM) and lead small scope RCCMs.
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent work experience.
- Ideally, 4+ years of experience in manufacturing.
- Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment with Solid Works, AutoCAD, MS Office, MRP (Epicor preferred), etc.
- Experience presenting to managers and key partners.
- Technical writing review experience.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control and statistical analysis software (Minitab preferred).
- Manufacturing process troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Lean experience with RCCM, MDI, kaizen, Standard Work, 5S, Autonomous Maintenance, and/or CCF processes.
- Experience using DMAIC concepts in a project environment.
- Ergonomic analysis and improvement.
- A trusted authority in Manual/Manufacturing processes.
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple competing priorities.
