What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Project Manager to join our Construction Services Team in Charlotte, NC! This role follows an in-office work model, requiring regular attendance at our Charlotte, NC office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As an SUE Project Manager you will work with the SUE Department Lead, to provide subsurface utility engineering (SUE) activities. You will provide oversight and quality control on projects throughout the GFT organization. Primary role also includes directing and scheduling field and office staff on SUE assignments and assisting with field operations and mapping as needed.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead SUE projects including project planning, execution, and quality control to ensure client expectations, budgets, and schedules are met.
  • Provide client coordination to provide recommendations on project requirements
  • Responsible for resource allocation, equipment maintenance, and team scheduling
  • Responsible for client satisfaction through timely submission of high-quality SUE projects.
  • Responsible for training field staff in equipment operation, maintenance, and calibration.
  • Provides direction for field staff procedures and methods in conjunction with the SUE Department Lead
  • Leads SUE field health and safety compliance in conjunction with SUE Department Lead
  • Performs and leads others performing SUE data processing, reporting and mapping.
  • Prepare Proposals (estimates & scope) for in house disciplines as well as existing and new clients.
  • Manage monthly billing process.
  • Directs the preparation of SUE maps, plans, and exhibits.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports and prepares correspondence as needed related to the completion of work assignments.
  • Conform, in all respects, with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and adhere to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
Education | Experience:

What you'll bring to our firm:

  • A minimum of 10 years' SUE experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Proficiency with programs on AutoCAD and/or MicroStation platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of ASCE 38-22
  • Skilled at preparing SUE drawings and reports.
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks.
  • Ability to coordinate and direct multiple SUE crews and SUE office technicians.
  • Operate standard office equipment (i.e., personal computer, plotter, facsimile, copy machine, etc.)
  • Proficiency with electromagnetic locating equipment and ground penetrating radar
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we prefer you bring:

  • Department of Transportation mapping experience is a plus.

Compensation:
The range for this position is salary range is $100,000 - $110,000.

Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
