Location: Waltham, MA

Key Accountabilities
  • Welding and fabricating of company equipment and including but not limited to storage containers, utility bodies, trailers etc.
  • Perform welding duties from an aerial platform. "working at heights"
  • Perform welding and fabrication duties on various transmission structures.
  • Perform all duties while adhering to National Grid Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Perform welding and fabricating duties in a live electrical environment.
  • Respond to emergency calls during off hours which may require overnight stays and perform duties in adverse conditions.
  • Ability to operate all equipment associated with the position. Perform manual labor or other duties as directed in various environmental conditions in a transmission right of way.
  • Operate in a team environment.
  • Perform all other work as required by the job, examples are but not limited to delivering stock and assisting line crews when needed.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid Class A Driver's License with an air brake endorsement, Medical Examiners Obtain and maintain a CDL class A with Hazmat endorsement.
  • Attend and maintain the 40 hour Hazwoper Trained
  • Have five years' experience around the welding trade with steel and aluminum.
  • Ability to work in Enclosed Spaces, drive all types of vehicles/equipment in the TLS department under, at times, adverse conditions, in a safe manner.
  • Ability to read and understand Blueprints, Construction drawings, and Environmental Field Issue maps.
  • Must obtain all welder qualifications that TLS NE requires.
  • Must be able to read and write English Language legibly
  • Must obtain company hydraulic and hoisting licensees.
  • Be physically able bodied and a safe and careful worker
  • Work under adverse weather conditions, in a 24/7; 365 day Operation
  • Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
  • Accept assignments anywhere within service territory.
  • Possess Strong Mechanical and Communications abilities.

NOTE:

  1. Successful completion of the Physical Capacity Test.
  2. Final Awarding of the Job(s) is contingent upon the applicant(s) successful completion of the Field Assessment Test.
  3. Employees hired into this position will follow under the guidelines of the 8 year agreement
