Who we are looking for: We are currently looking for a EHS Manager to be based out of the New Bedford, MA facility. Reporting to Plant Manager, this person will be responsible for implementing, sustaining, and continuously improving Atkore's Safety and Environmental Management System to ensure an injury-free workplace and zero notices of violations to local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in an EHS or related engineering/technical field or 5+ years progressive EHS leadership experience with knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards and regulations. Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing, including exposure or experience with environmental, safety, quality, and lean principles or business system-based company is a requirement. What you'll do:
- Plan, implement, manage, and maintain comprehensive safety, health, & environmental programs following Atkore's Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS)
- Manage continuous improvements and execute best practices to transform the culture by engaging the workforce
- Ensure timely submittal, acquisition and maintenance of all environmental permits and reports to maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulatory agencies, and Atkore policies and standards
- Provide thorough risk assessments and Implement hierarchy of controls to eliminate or reduce risks
- Manage chemical inventories to include SDS review and hazardous communication implementation
- Engage with cross-functional leaders to understand and support their teams to ensure compliance to EPCRA reporting and recordkeeping, and all other legal requirements and Atkore standards
- Manage behavior-based safety and observation programs
- Lead monthly Plant Safety Review Board (PSRB) with site leadership
- Develop, schedule, and implement routine and off-routine inspections and audits to sustain compliance of policies and procedures
- Participate in detailed incident investigations utilizing Atkore Business System (ABS) tools to determine root cause and corrective actions, and ensure timely completion
Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct safety and environmental audits and inspections to identify safety, health, and environmental risks at other locations, with less than 10% travel requirement
- Assist other sites with EHS risk assessments, training requirements and compliance
- Provide hands-on support at the operating site level to ensure compliance and accurate reporting of incidents and corrective actions, all strategic safety targets to improve, key performance indicators, environmental metrics, and training
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in EHS or related engineering/technical field or 5+ years progressive EHS leadership experience with knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards and regulations.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA and EPA standards and regulations
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing, including exposure or experience with environmental, safety, quality, and lean principles or business system-based company.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Excellent ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and tools
- Ability to work with, develop, influence, and maintain collaborative relations with all team members and leadership at all levels of the organization
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
- Strong interpersonal, change management, project management, and time management skills

Within 3 months, you'll:
- Complete your Atkore immersion program
- Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy
- Active participation in daily Gemba walks and safety and environmental initiatives
- Work in partnership with local and regional leadership to fully understand Atkore's Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS)
- Understand site's Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) and Visual Compliance Tool (VCT)
Within 6 months, you'll:
- Full ownership and accountability for execution of the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) and the Visual Compliance Tool (VCT)
- Measure and track EHS KPIs
- Full ownership of the Safety Cycle Training
- Have a thorough knowledge of our SEMS and other EHS programs, such Safety Cycle Training, Joint Safety Committee (JSC), Safety Gemba Walk, Plant Leadership Review Board (PSRB), etc.
- Assist and coach team members in EHS topics
Within 12 months, you'll:
- Drive Atkore's SEMS and implement sustainable processes to continuously improve score
- Demonstrate improved IIPP and VCT compliance
- Demonstrate improved RIR and NOV's
- Identify and execute opportunities to drive cultural change and develop safety mindset

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $102,160 - $140,470. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives. Benefits available include:
