Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.

POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Intern is a student, or a recent graduate undergoing on-the-job supervised training in preparation of a desired career. The intern will serve as the first point of contact for division IT users seeking technical assistance and will performs a variety of tasks to address their IT issues and challenges.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform troubleshooting using basic diagnostic techniques

  • Document user problems and resolution in service desk tickets and forward unresolved issues to the next level of support

  • Build/Install workstations, IT equipment or software applications as needed under guidance/supervision of division IT team

  • Follow-up on open issues and update IT users on status of their issues

  • Supports IT team on daily operations by learning and participating in a variety of activities.

  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on IT processes & procedures

  • Participates in preparation and delivery of training materials.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be enrolled in and currently completing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT or related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant IT experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Independent yet Collaborative
  • Interest in the IT Technology
  • Understanding of computer systems, mobile devices and other tech products
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations.
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems.
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to drive tasks to completion.

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $20/hr to $25/hr
  • No benefit plan eligibility
