Set up, operate, and maintain one or more complex machines to department efficiency averages.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret process prints including math conversions for setting machines.
  • Read and interpret quality information instructions.
  • Produce and inspect finished parts using scales, calipers, micrometers, adjustable, direct reading, and fixed gages to check work.
  • Read, interpret, and record data on required documentation for quality assurance.
  • Keep fixtures and clamping devices clear of chips.
  • Machine operation including loading and unloading of parts according to standard work instructions.
  • Recognize defective tooling, machine malfunctions and dimensional deviations.
  • Maintain a high degree of cleanliness, organization, quality, and safety.
  • Change tooling during a change over or troubleshooting.
  • Understand and follow standard work for required machines.
  • Proceed with minimum supervision; instructions and guidance provided on new work, tooling, and operating difficulties.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work accurately in a fast- paced environment to meet quality and quantity quotas.
  • Ability to operate one or more machines to produce parts as directed.
  • Ability to train, instruct and assist trainees through the training period.
  • Use of judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions as to set ups and operations within recognized procedures.
  • Demonstration of proficiency in shop math, basic reading, writing and print reading.
  • Ability to conduct tests and inspections of product.
  • Demonstration of a strong work ethic and is a self-starter.
  • Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to determine causes of operating errors.
  • Ability to adhere to structured work guidelines and schedules.
  • Ability to read and follow visual cues.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses and maintenance.
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work individually and as a team.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two - three years of previous manufacturing machine set up experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift, push and carry up to forty (40) pounds on an average eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to stand and sit intermittently during an average eight (8) hour shift.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, twist, reach overhead, walk, and carry parts
