Senior Business Development Director I, Florida

ICON Technology
United States, Texas, Austin
220 East Saint Elmo Road (Show on map)
Oct 24, 2025

ICON is seeking a trailblazing Senior Business Development Director to pioneer our go-to-market strategy in Florida. This is not a typical construction sales role. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about the intersection of real estate development, robotics, and technology, and who is driven to introduce our proprietary 3D-printing construction methods to a key growth market.

As the Senior Business Development Director for Florida, you will be the primary engine for growth, responsible for building a robust pipeline of residential and commercial projects, with an initial focus on Southeast Florida. You will own the entire sales lifecycle, from identifying visionary partners to closing multi-million dollar deals that will reshape the built environment. This role is based on-site in our Miami, FL field office and reports to the Vice President, Real Estate and Business Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Market Strategy & Penetration: Develop and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy to establish our technology as a premier building solution in Florida. You will identify and prioritize target markets, asset classes, and ideal client profiles (real estate developers, home builders, landowners, architects, and housing-related non-profits).
  • Pipeline & Revenue Generation: Take full ownership of the sales lifecycle, from prospecting and lead generation to contract negotiation and deal closure. You will build and manage a dynamic pipeline in our CRM, provide accurate sales forecasts, and consistently exceed revenue targets.
  • Strategic Relationship Building: Identify, cultivate, and manage enduring relationships with key industry stakeholders. You will become a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them on how to leverage our technology to meet their development goals.
  • Navigating New Frontiers: Educate potential clients and regulatory bodies on the advantages of additive manufacturing in construction. You will collaborate with our internal experts to guide partners through local approvals and permitting, establishing clear timelines with all Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Pre-Construction Leadership: Perform initial project feasibility assessments and provide early-stage project management through the conceptual design phase, ensuring projects are set up for success from day one.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the critical link between our clients and internal teams, including design, engineering, legal, finance, and operations, to ensure seamless communication.
  • Brand Evangelism: Represent the company as a thought leader at industry events, conferences, and presentations. You will compellingly articulate the value proposition of our technology and its transformative benefits.
  • Market Intelligence: Maintain an expert understanding of Florida's real estate market trends, competitive activities, and technological advancements to continuously refine our strategic approach.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, real estate brokerage or sales within the real estate sector.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is a strong plus.
  • A proven history of exceeding sales targets and managing project or sales pipelines from inception to completion.
  • Experience in consultative sales and ability to manage contract negotiation.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate a complex value proposition to a wide range of stakeholders, from C-suite executives to municipal planning departments.
  • Real estate finance acumen and experience with project feasibility analysis.
  • Proficiency with modern CRM platforms.
  • Ability to travel to our headquarters in Austin, TX, and extensively throughout the Florida territory.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Direct experience with the design-build construction model.
  • Knowledge of innovative construction technologies, off-site manufacturing, or building product integration.
  • An established professional network within Florida's real estate development, construction, or architectural communities.
  • Experience navigating zoning, permitting, and regulatory processes within key Florida municipalities.
