The Retinal Technician & Screening Operations Support position plays a vital part in patient care, handling retinal imaging procedures, processing test results, and coordinating the operations of screening initiatives within the department. The position utilizes strong technical skills, proficiency in retinal diagnostics, and a patient-first approach combined with the ability to support operational needs such as scheduling, resource allocation, and interdepartmental collaboration. Essential Functions Capture retinal images with advanced retinal imaging technology to assist in diagnosing retinal diseases. Assist with retinal imaging and diagnostic testing, especially during high-demand periods. Ensure the accurate documentation of diagnostic results in patient medical records. Coordinate patient scheduling for screenings, ensuring seamless clinic workflow and optimized appointment management. Manage data entry and tracking of patient screening results to maintain organized and accessible records. Collaborate with clinical managers and administrative staff to ensure proper allocation of resources, including screening equipment and technician availability. Prepare reports summarizing patient screening outcomes, departmental efficiency, and other operational metrics. Confirm all equipment and diagnostic testing follow compliance and regulatory standards. Monitor screening throughput and efficiency, recommending workflow improvements to enhance patient care and reduce wait times. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and clinic policies, maintaining sensitivity around patient information and confidentiality at all times. Build strong working relationships across clinical staff, administrative teams, and patients to ensure a smooth screening experience. Assist retinal technicians and providers during procedures, providing operational and technical support where necessary. Requirements
Job Specifications Typically has the following skills or abilities: 1 - 2 years of experience in a healthcare or optometric clinic Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and diagnostic imaging platforms Proficiency in retinal imaging techniques and screening processes Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage schedules and operational workflows Basic data entry and reporting skills Ability to troubleshoot and maintain technical equipment effectively Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with patients and clinical teams Ability to lift up to 30 pounds Reliable transportation to travel locally to screenings Willingness to travel to other Florida geographies overnight Ability to travel up to 75% of the time Clean DMV record Bi-lingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) Preferred Skills Certification in Retinal Imaging or relevant credentials from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
