Job Overview & Responsibilities

This individual will have responsibilites in both Quality Engineering and Systems Safety Engineering, supporting Launch operations at both Cape and Vandenberg.


Key Responsbilities:



  • Position will require occasional extended temporary duty travels (TDY's).
  • Reviews product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and establishes safety requirements for assigned systems.
  • Independently analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
  • Prepares safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational range requirements.
  • Performs development, modification, application and maintenance of quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Adheres to implementation methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Performs the design or specification of inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Bachelor



Required Years of Experience


Minimum of 4 years of related work experience



Basic Qualifications



  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance is required. US citizenship is required.
  • Analytical ability to evaluate, interpret, and assimilate data into useable information and provide recommendations based upon results.
  • Ability to apply CA tools to identify root cause and corrective actions for anomaly conditions.
  • Must be able to work around hazardous systems at the launch sites, climb stairs, and access elevated work platforms
  • Lead multi-discipline continuous improvement teams to improve methods and procedures.
  • Highly flexible in work schedule (i.e. off-shift, weekends, travel 25%).
  • Willing to accommodate occasional TDY's at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Green Belt / Black Belt certification
  • Lean and six-sigma certification

Summary Salary Range (forULA - Vandenberg AFBonly): $97,547.00 - $162,578.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
