The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC) is accepting applications for the position of Psychiatry Residency Program Director. This position is for a part-time Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor. This role reports directly to the Chair and Vice Chair for Education, and indirectly to the GME and ACGME. And the Psychiatry Residency Associate Program Directors (APDs) will report to the Psychiatry Residency Program Director. Description of the Psychiatry Residency Program The Psychiatry Residency program is a 4-year program, sponsored by Keck School of Medicine of USC with initial ACGME accreditation received in February 2025. This is a new program with its inaugural class starting in July 2026 with 12 residents per class. This will be a unique opportunity to create future psychiatry physician-scholars and leaders in Psychiatry through learning, practice, and discovery. Through a blend of clinical practice, academic and leadership training, our program offers a well-rounded and rigorous educational experience. The resident's clinical experience will comprise of both public and private healthcare sectors. Experience at the VA's Greater Los Angeles health care system will take advantage of the robust continuum of care for veterans, and experiences at Keck School of Medicine of USC will tap into the network of clinical services in unique areas and populations of Los Angeles: the community hospitals in the San Gabriel Valley and east of downtown Los Angeles. With robust support for research and scholarly activity, residents will have the opportunity to work with a research mentorship team led by faculty researchers. Our faculty operate various research and training centers, and through their funded studies and collaborations, they are expanding our understanding of the causes of and cures for a wide range of behavioral, neurological, and psychiatric disorders. Description of the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences The Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences is committed to excellence in three equally important areas: clinical care, education, and research. The Department has grown in recent years in its research mission, strengthened by its ongoing collaborations with local, national, and international partners and has expanded the breadth and depth of the education programming, with innovative leaders in curriculum, evaluation, research, and teaching methodology. The Department's clinical educators and clinical services are a fundamental part of the academic and training missions. The team of mental health professionals offer a range of psychiatric and behavioral health services utilizing the most up-to-date research in the field and state-of-the-art technology. The Department of Psychiatry provides clinical services primarily at USC Student Health, student exclusive practices as part of Keck Medicine of USC, and additional ambulatory practices for Keck Medicine of USC, including Keck Hospital of USC, USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the USC Care Medical Group. The annual base salary range for this position is $89,985--$101,402.10.
