Title: E&I Technician

Location: Northlake, IL

Pay: $36.20 - $37.70

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (OT on as-needed basis)

Overview:

In this role, you will be responsible for Repair, installation, calibration, and preventative/predictive maintenance on a wide variety of electronic and pneumatic instruments and facility systems. Examine and troubleshoot equipment to diagnose the source of problems, offer solutions, perform repairs, replace broken or defective parts, and make necessary adjustments for operation. Provide support and assistance for Maintenance and Engineering activities. Monitor equipment within assigned areas of responsibility. Interface and work in conjunction with various internal and external disciplines both within and outside of Sun Chemical to fulfill job responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Perform equipment repair &/or modification and additional maintenance work orders, including at times, work order initiation, requisitioning, history, and closure.
  • Examine and troubleshoot equipment, instrumentation, systems, and processes to identify bottlenecks and determine causes of poor process &/or equipment and instrumentation performance. Investigate, provide input, initiate, offer alternatives, and discuss and evaluate proposals and alternatives offered by other groups with facility production and engineering department personnel.
  • Maintain and ensure that specifications, equipment, drawings, operations, and repair manuals reflect the current state and operation of the facility. Initiate appropriate corrective action when deficiencies exist. Extract pertinent information from equipment files, understand and follow P & ID's, mechanical equipment, and electrical, instrument loop, and ISO drawings and diagrams.
  • Assist as needed or required in the development of preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Oversee calibration of electrical instrumentation and maintenance of records; ensure control system integrity.


  • If requested, assist with Capital projects. Review and ensure new installations comply with standards and project documentation, are functional, and safe to operate. Maintain and ensure that specifications, equipment, drawings, MMS information, operations, and repair manuals reflect the current state of the Northlake operation.



Required Education and Experience:



  • Requires a High School diploma/GED with a minimum of three (3) years industrial experience emphasizing instrumentation, electrical, or process control; or an Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology with some experience preferred
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word and Outlook, and Strong Excel Skills
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to co-workers, supervisors, and vendors. S/he must have the ability to read and comprehend work instructions, equipment manuals, safety procedures, P& ID's.
  • Must possess the ability to present training material to individuals and small groups effectively. Must have the ability to read and follow written and oral instructions, electrical drawings, and functional specifications.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to perform calculations necessary for the maintenance and repair of equipment, instruments, and control systems.
  • Must have the ability to lead small projects.
  • Must be well organized and demonstrate the ability to plan/prioritize work in a manner that ensures minimal disruption to operations, improved equipment and process reliability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Ability to generate standard maintenance procedures and conduct training
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical and electronic fundamentals, methods, and skills over a wide range of equipment types
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain instrumentation, electrical, and equipment documentation
  • Experience and knowledge of various process control transmitters and safety switches
  • Experience and knowledge in installation, troubleshooting, and start-up of equipment and process systems
  • Experience with Process Safety Risk Management and Management of Change as required by OSHA and other regulatory agencies/company policies
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair AC high voltage (
