Community Solutions is seeking a full-time Human Resources Business Partner for our non-profit dedicated to helping individuals at risk of becoming involved in or have been involved in the child welfare and/or criminal justice system. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of Human Resources functions for designated programs. This individual will also provide guidance to supervisors and employees on issues relating to personnel policy, employee relations, benefits, time and attendance. AtCommunity Solutions, Inc. What You'll Do: On-boarding
- Coordinate with the Talent Acquisition Specialist on the new hire process, once the offer is accepted. Send all required new hire paperwork. Receive and verify all new hire paperwork. Enter all new hires into the HRIS system.
- Communicate regularly with candidate in regards to on-boarding tasks.
- Conduct background checks for all employees in accordance with established agency policies and procedures and the requirements of the funding source, including but not limited to criminal background checks, DCF checks and FBOP checks.
- Complete new hire employment verifications.
- Work with managers to set and confirm employee start dates.
- Complete E-Verify.
- Ensure the completion of employee electronic file, continually recording and updating information as needed. Uploading all completed documents into electronic file.
- Timely follow up with all hiring managers regarding outstanding documentation.
- Conduct monthly orientation for new hires on a virtual platform. Orientation includes review of agency, policy, processes, safety and benefits.
Employee & Supervisor Relations
- Schedule in-person/virtual site visits monthly for all applicable programs supported by this role. (In-person whenever possible)
- Schedule virtual site visits monthly for out of state programs.
- Provide guidance to supervisor regarding personnel policy and employee relations inquiries.
- Provide guidance to supervisors regarding the agency's disciplinary process and review of supporting documentation.
- Participate in discipline meetings as necessary.
- Participate or conduct investigations as necessary.
- Assure that the human resources policies and procedures are administered fairly and uniformly to all staff.
- Manage Tuition reimbursement for assigned programs.
- Create/update, print and issue employee ID badges as needed.
- Utilize Paycom and other HR software to assist with requested reports and perform research and department responsibility quality assurance of employee data.
Benefits & LOA
- Have a working knowledge of the current benefits offered to be able to answer basic employee questions in regards to benefits and benefit enrollment.
- Assist with Open Enrollment and communication of benefit plans.
- Administer all leave of absence programs in accordance with state and federal laws, as well as agency policy. Respond to questions from employees and supervisors regarding leave eligibility guidelines and expiration as they arise.
Safety and Workers Compensation
- Participate in Safety committee, attending safety meetings.
- Coordinate workers compensation administration for assigned programs. Work with workers compensation insurance representative to coordinate return to work status and wage verification as needed.
- Assist supervisor/employees with any workers compensation questions.
Off-Boarding
- Complete voluntary separation process by ensuring a PAF has been completed, issuing an exit interview, creating separation/benefit information sheets to be emailed to employee.
- Complete involuntary separation processing by attending separation meeting and creating the separation PAF. Send all separation/benefit information to terminated employee.
- Post for vacancy.
- Provide employee separation details to the unemployment claim management provider as requested. Respond to unemployment appeals and grievances. Represent agency in hearings or meetings as needed.
Payroll
- Responsible for payroll spreadsheet updates of New Hires, LOA and other items impacting payroll.
- Review timesheets on a weekly basis ensuring completeness and approval, as well as work with supervisors/managers to address and resolve any issues.
Other
- Assist in various department projects.
- Attend training and/or seminars to continue professional growth.
- Maintain a positive and effective working relationship with all employees, clients and external customers in the course of work.
- Maintain thorough working knowledge of all Agency policies and procedures, especially as pertains to Human Resources management.
- Recommend updates to personnel policy as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Schedule: First Shift - Monday through Friday Salary: $30.38 per hour
Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
- BA/BS Degree in a related field. Education may be substituted with experience on a year for year basis.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in Human Resource.
- Exposure to state and federal guidelines including but not limited to EEOC, AAP, ADA, FMLA/LOA, WC.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to analyze situations effectively and adopt an appropriate course of action.
- Good writing and organizational skills, and ability to prioritize projects a must.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while executing delegated tasks and assignments required.
- Strong computer skills and high attention to detail required, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook and in use of the internet and video platforms and an HRIS system (Paycom preferred).
