Assists in the completion of marketing, public relations, social media, donor engagement, or production projects and initiatives. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Assists with the completion of marketing projects, public relations events, and publications.
  • Trains and shadows in various areas within the Development/Marketing team to include marketing, development, public relations and/or special events to better understand the functions and approach opportunities within the assigned department.
  • Assists with marketing projects and copy for social and digital media.
  • Presents the Boys Town message to political and business leaders, potential donors, or community members as applicable.
  • May assist in writing news releases, designing graphics, or pitching stories to relevant media outlets.
  • May assist with event logistics, securing sponsorships & recruiting volunteers.
  • Research various topics or technologies for potential marketing and communications use.
  • Assists the development team in stewardship activities with donors, including work with the concierge team.
  • Assists with office databases, mailings, and other maintenance activities.
  • Provides other departmental assistance as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner with strong written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of marketing and communications principles, ethics, and practices.
  • Ability to utilize web marketing and social media to promote organizational goals.
  • Has professionalism and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task while maintaining quality standards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College student (may or may not be enrolled in an internship program) or recent college graduate required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience in public relations, journalism, mass communications, or writing is preferred.
  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Serves as a role model in carrying out activities and behaviors that reflect the values and principles of the Boys Town mission.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
